EVERYDAY MATERIALS UNEXPECTED CREATIONS
BLUE TACK MICROCOSM
Who would have thought a lump of blue tack could become this?
Inspired by coral reefs, microscopic life and organic growth, this sculptural study was created entirely by hand using repeated forms built up one piece at a time. Without a fixed plan, the landscape evolved naturally as each new detail suggested the next.
This piece reflects something that runs through much of my work: a fascination with texture, pattern, and the unexpected possibilities hidden within everyday materials.
SALT DOUGH ROSE
Created entirely by hand from salt dough, this sculpture began as an experiment in seeing how much detail and texture could be achieved using one of the simplest materials imaginable.
Rather than aiming for a perfect rose, I wanted to capture the irregular folds, rough textures and natural imperfections that give real flowers their character. The finished piece reflects my ongoing fascination with observation, texture and discovering creative potential in unexpected places.
Paper Mâché Terrain
What began as insulation foam became a landscape.
Built from carved foam, paper mâché, paint and handcrafted details, this project was an exploration of environment building and miniature world design. Every layer added new possibilities, gradually transforming basic materials into cliffs, rivers, pathways and campsites.
I enjoy projects that evolve as they're being made. Rather than working towards a perfectly fixed outcome, I let the landscape develop naturally, responding to the shapes, textures and ideas that appear along the way.
Like much of my creative work, this project wasn't just about the finished result. It was about discovering what could be created from ordinary materials through patience, experimentation and curiosity.
